Pastor William R. Lawson passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, March 13, 2017, at the age of 74. Bill was born on October 24, 1942, to the late Arnold and Lena Lawson in Hardburly, Kentucky. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 52 years, Saundra (Wallen) Lawson; his son William Lawson (Kimberly); his daughters, Tammy Emery (Daniel), Kellie Schurman (Stephen), and Diana Cotton; and two sisters, Lucille Cathey and Virginia (Louis) Winsted. Papa, as he was called by his 13 grandchildren and two, soon to be three, great-grandchildren, loved working in his wood shop, watching Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee movies, and fishing. After 13 years of ministry with Christian Resources International, formerly known as The Christian Salvage Mission, Bill enjoyed a 25-year career as pastor to many churches and congregations in the mid-Michigan area. He ended his working years by retiring from Kirby of Ingham County where he was known as the Friendly Service Technician. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Memorial services to celebrate Bill’s life will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m., at Faith Church, 2300 Lake Lansing Rd., Lansing, MI 48912, with Pastor Kirk Proctor officiating. Please join the family for a light lunch at 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor, MI. The family will receive friends Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions for family wishes.
