" J. P. BARRICKLOW DIES IN FLORIDA
Spent Most of His Life in Arcola
Arcola, March 23—A telegram received late Saturday afternoon brought news of the death of Joseph P. Barricklow, which occurred early this morning at Daytona, Fla. Mr. Barricklow had been ill for over a month, his sickness beginning with an attack of appendicitis for which he underwent a surgical operation. For a time he seemed to be getting better and then an abscess developed. His condition had been critical for the last two weeks.
Mr. Barricklow was born at Rising Sun, Ind. Feb. 7 1867. His parents were Elias and Eliza Barricklow, who came to Arcola in 1871, and located on a farm two miles south of Arcola. Elias Barricklow died there in 1874. There were five sons in the family of whom but two survive. They are Ellsworth of Great Bend, Kan., and Judd (Jeremiah) of Warrode (Warroad), Minn. Their mother now about eighty years of age lives at Rising Sun. Ind.
WAS IN LEGISLATURE.
Joseph Barricklow spent the greater part of his life in Arcola. When a young man he was for several years engaged in teaching school. Then he studied law and had a practice here. Several years ago he was elected to the lower house of the Illinois legislature and serve one term. A few years ago he was employed as instructor in military tactics at St. Charles school. Later he went to Kirkwood, Mo. Where he was graduated from the school of osteopaths. He went to Florida about three (years) ago and since that time has been practicing osteopathy at Dayton.
Funeral services were held at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at his late home. Burial was at Daytona."
