Rose Mary Weingart, age 92, of McHenry, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Crystal Lake, IL. She was born August 23, 1924, the daughter of William F. and Pauline B. (Happ) Selzer, and grew up in Crystal Lake. On October 5, 1946 she married the love of her life, Donald P. Weingart, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Crystal Lake, and they had recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. While she had a life-long interest in cooking, baking, sewing and the occasional debate, in her earlier years she devotedly attended her grandchildren's many sporting events, and enjoyed her exercise group, dominoes, card clubs and vacations to Sayner, WI with her family and friends. Family was not only her priority, but her passion in life. Rose loved family gatherings that included spending time with her three children, seven grandchildren and her adored great-grandchild.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; and their children, Alan (Mary) Weingart of Excelsior, MN, Karen (the late David) Diedrich of McHenry and Jane (Brad) Hertel of McHenry. Surviving grandchildren include Andrew (Katelynn) Weingart, Nathan Weingart, Sarah (James) Frank, Todd (Caitlin) Diedrich, Kathleen Diedrich, Emily (Brad) Voss and Erik Hertel; along with her great-grandchild, Blake Diedrich. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers and sisters, Lawrence, Norie, Richard, Francis, Edward, Eleanor Aufderheide, Loretta Anderson and Angeline Raycraft; along with her son-in-law, David S. Diedrich.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry and will continue at Colonial on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 9:00am to 9:30am. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in McHenry. Interment will immediately follow at the church cemetery.
