Obituary

"The dial hand of time moves rapidly along and another of those once brave hearted pioneers of Burt county passes away to his eternal home.

L. L. Darling was born at Chesterfield, Mass. October 3, 1826. Married Catherine L Jones, April 1848, and to them were born nine children, William, of Gold Hill, Oregon, Orval E. of Decatur, Mary L Hall, deceased, Belle, wife of F. E. Higley, lately of Decatur, Charles A., of Lyons, Grace Hogbin of Wall, S. D, Alice E., wife of A. K. Sears, of Decatur, Agnes, wife of Prof. C. F. Beck, of Peru, Nebraska and Frank L. of Craig.

He move to Indiana in 1857 and to Nebraska in 1867, locating near Decatur. His wife died in 1887 and later he moved to Lyons and then to Alberta Canada, 11 years ago, where his second wife now resides, and returned to Nebraska a year ago making his home with his daughter, Mrs. C. F. Beck at Peru, Neb. where he died October 5, 1909.

The remains were laid to rest at Tekamah, Wednesday, beside his first wife and mother of his children.

Although he has passed on to realms of eternity, his memory will abide with the grateful people of Burt county for many years to come and his life work and upright examples will be an inspiration to the young men everywhere."
