Robert graduated from Cathedral Boys High School, class of 1935. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was assigned in the Pacific Theatre. He worked for Illinois Bell Telephone for 34 years. He was a member of Bell Telephone Pioneers, charter member of KC #4175, and was a member of St. Aloysius Church. Robert was a caring family man, and was known to be a handy man who loved doing things for others. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife throughout the country.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ed Berberet; and sisters, Kate Buecker and Janice Giacomini.
He is survived by his children, Sue, Bob (Rhonda) Jr., Jim (Julie), Mary, Bill (Mary Kay), and Tom (Linda) Berberet, all of Springfield; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at St. Aloysius Church, Springfield, until the time of the ceremony at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Clint Honkomp, OP, celebrant.
Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery following ceremonies.
