WILLIAM HAROLD MURPHY, born in Winters, Yolo County, California the eldest of 16 children of Walter Hamilton MURPHY and Marion Viola HICKS; husband of Catherine (Merci) MacDOUGEL, whom he married c1938 and Elizabeth Gorman WELLS, whom he married April 27, 1940.

William Harold Murphy, owner of the Woodlake Tuneup auto shop in North Sacramento from 1941 until last year, died Monday at the age of 62.

the Winters native, who died in a local hospital, had lived in Sacramento County for 55 years.

Murphy, who sold his business last year, was a member of the Ben Alt Temple of the Shrine, Sacramento Consistory of Scottish Rite Bodies, S.I.R.S. No. 33, the North Sacramento Merchants Association and was a director of the North Sacramento Rotary Club.

He leaves his widow, Elizabeth G., son William G.; mother, Mrs. Marian Murphy, brothers, John, Jim, Percy, Ray and Charles, all of Sacramento, and Bob of Texas; sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Steadman of Sacramento, Mrs. Barbara Underwood of Placerville and Mrs. Billie Sabin of Florida; and three grandchildren.

Rites will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the East Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, 43rd Street and Folsom Boulevard, under the direction of the North Sacramento funeral Home. Washington Lodge No. 20 will conduct the services.
