William N. Young, 88, of Rigby, passed away March 18, 2017 at Pine Brook Assisted Living in Idaho Falls.
Bill was born February 17, 1929, in Menan, Idaho to Tharrel and Hazel Newby Young. He attended school in Annis until the 8th grade. He married DeVona Baron on July 28, 1948 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they had eight children, two sons and six daughters. Bill retired in 1987 from the Idaho Transportation Department where he worked as a mechanic for 32 years. After retirement, he served on the Board of Directors for the Rigby Senior Citizens organization. Bill also served in many church callings in the Rigby 2nd Ward and enjoyed camping, fishing and snowmobiling.
Bill is survived by his two sons Rulon Young (Nancy) of Idaho Falls, and Nolan Young (Geogiana) of The Dalles, Oregon; daughters Eilona Bowen (Stephen), of Lyman, Cindy McElprang (Mark) of Show Low, Arizona, LaVona Borg (Dave), of Ammon, Marianna Glenn (Paul), of Dubois, Wyoming, and Jennifer Arnell (Mark), of Ucon; sisters Ila Jennings (David) of Rigby, Jone Vincent (Larry) of Idaho Falls; brothers Roy Young (Mary), St. Anthony, Rance Young (Roberta), Idaho Falls ; 23 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, DeVona Baron Young; brother, Stephen Young; sister, Virginia Pitman; daughter, Regina Borg, and granddaughter, Melissa Phelps.
Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday March 24th at the Rigby 12th Ward Chapel at 602 Sundance in Rigby. The family will visit with friends Thursday, March 23, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho. There will also be a viewing on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Rigby 12th Ward Chapel at 602 Sundance in Rigby. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
