SFC Harry Garth Green, 38, of Carlisle, formerly of Agency, died March 19, 2017 at his home.

He was born June 5, 1978 in Creston to Ronald Ray and Kathy Dianne Jennings Green. He married Mirela Elizabeth Moore on April 18, 2015.

A 1996 graduate of Cardinal High School, Garth served 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps with the 1st Battalion Recon stationed at Camp Pendleton. When 9/11 happened he joined the Army National Guard as a MP, serving two tours in Iraq in 2003 and 2007, one tour in Afghanistan in 2010 and in South America in 2012. He served on many humanitarian missions stateside including helping with the Katrina aftermath. Garth was a recruiter for the Iowa Army National Guard and served on the counter drug task force.

Garth was currently working as a machinist at John Deere Des Moines Works in Ankeny, having worked there since 2001. He worked part time in the Fareway meat department in Carlisle.

Garth enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children. He loved to cook and was a musician at heart.

Surviving is his wife, Mirela; his children, Kimberlee Jonté Green and Noah Ray Green; two step-children, Hayley Jo Eads and Jakob Levi Eads; his parents, Ray (Barb) Green of Agency and Kathy (Randy) Davis of Ottumwa; grandmother, Mary Louise Jennings of Ottumwa; siblings, DeLisa Kent of Albia, Angela Wymore of Martinsville, VA, Nathan (Sarah) Green of Ankeny, Tifani (Joe) Young and Donald McMartin both of Ottumwa, Misty Johnston and Jason (Wendy) Johnston both of Mt. Pleasant; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Harry and Darlene Green and William Jennings.
