Debra Kay Brase, 63, of Waverly, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Yuma Regional Medical Center in Yuma, Arizona.

Debra was born on September 19, 1953, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Betty (Stone) and James Gann. She was raised in Waterloo where she attended school, and graduated from Orange High School.

On May 24, 1980, Deb was united in marriage to Lyle Frederick Brase in Fredericksburg, Iowa. The couple made their home and raised their family in Waverly. Deb was a teacher's assistant and worked many years for the Waverly-Shell Rock School systems. She worked in the Shell Rock and West Cedar locations. Following Lyle's retirement in 2015, he and Deb began migrating to Arizona for the winter.

Deb was a very social person. She loved to laugh and tell jokes. She enjoyed playing cards and visiting the ocean. She was a wonderful cook, and always made more than enough food. However, her greatest passion and love was her family, especially the grandkids. They were the center of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and niece, Tasha York.

To celebrate Deb's life, family will greet friends on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly.
