Knight originated the radio series "March of Dimes" and "Command Performance" and served as a sergeant in in the U.S. Army during World War II and served as a lieutenant in Germany. A member of the Screen Writers Guild, he collaborated on music with the likes of Henry Russell, Lew Porter and Johnny Lange, among others. Knight wrote a number of songs throughout his career, a few are: ‘I Love Coffee I Love Tea,' ‘Drink, Drink, Drink,' ‘I Walk Alone,' ‘The Only Thing I Want for Christmas' and ‘Send Me.'
