Fatal Accident
We learn that on Friday last, Mr. S. W. Pickard, living about 1 1/2 miles south of this village, went to the timber near his dwelling, and commenced cutting down a tree, which soon began to fall, and on looking in the direction it was coming down, saw his little son, about three years old, immediately under it, but only in time to see it instantly crushed. The child had followed its father from the house so quietly that he was not aware that it was there. It lived only a few minutes, and was entirely unconscious. The head was broken, and it was otherwise much bruised.
