OBITUARY: Glen H. Andersen, July 29, 1923 ~ March 24, 2017 - reprinted from the Bakken-Young Funeral Home website

Glen Howard Andersen, age 93, formerly of South St. Paul, MN, died on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Regina Senior Living in Hastings, MN.

Glen was born July 29, 1923 in Bloomer, WI to Andrew and Harriett (Andrews) Andersen. He graduated from River Falls High School in 1941 and then attended two years of college in River Falls. Glen went to work at Northwest Airlines in the Twin Cities where he installed and inspected radio and electrical equipment. He entered military service in December 1944 and spent two years in the South Pacific. Glen began as an infantryman, but was later transferred as a trumpeter to the 40th and 7th Division Army Bands.

Glen married Veronica Loehlein on June 21, 1947, and together they raised three daughters. They settled in South St. Paul, MN. Glen’s favorite hobbies were playing cards, fishing, shooting pool, golf, and hunting. Veronica passed away on April 25, 1995. Glen was married to Esther Larson on January 3, 1997. They spent a few winters in Arizona, and eventually settled back in River Falls, WI.

Glen is survived by his wife, Esther Andersen of River Falls, WI; daughters, Diana (Deland) Porath, Karen (Dennis) Rich, and Arlene Neu (John Doheny); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; step-children: Sharon Larson, Bruce Larson, Becky (Wilbur) Pagel, and Brian (Carol) Larson; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Harriett; wife, Veronica; siblings, James Andersen, Harry Andersen, Mary Babbitt; sons-in-law, Robert Zustiak and Daniel Neu; and step-son, Kenneth Larson, Jr.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11 am at St. Bridget’s Church, 211 E Division Street, River Falls, WI. Memorial visitation will also be Saturday, from 10-11 am at the church. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Inver Grove Heights, MN.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Glen Andersen requests that memorials be sent to the Allina Health Hospice and Palliative Care in Hastings, MN or the Well Haven elevator fund in River Falls, WI.
