Gerrit Dircksen Kroesen was born before 1640.

He was a native of Wynschoot, in Groningen, Holland, and first appears in New Netherlands, at Brooklyn, Long Island in 1661.

Married Neeltje Jans, daughter of Jan Pieterszen and Elsje, at Old First Dutch Reformed Church, Breuckelen (Brooklyn), Kings Co., Long Island, New York, on 30 October 1661.
Gerrit Dirckzen Crousen, to Neeltje Jans, "from N(ieuw) Nederl(an)t; witnesses: Jan Pietersz, father of the bride, Jeurie Janszen, on the side of the bridegroom.

He was a member of the at Old First Dutch Reformed Church, Breuckelen (Brooklyn), Kings Co., Long Island, New York, on 29 May 1661 Gerrit Dirckszen Crousen, van Wijnschoot, witnesses Teunis Nyssen and Jan Martyn.

Witnessed the baptism of Elsje Pieterse Staats , daughter of Pieter Janszen Staats and Anna Janse Van Dyck, on 18 December 1661 at Old First Dutch Reformed Church, Breuckelen (Brooklyn), Kings Co., Long Island, New York, (sponsors Garret Croesen, Tryntie Jans, Grietie Jans).

On 19 Nov 1670 the Court at New York found that a ten pound fine levied against Gerrit Croosen for assaulting Adam Brouwer's wife, and a ten pound find levied against Adam Brouwer for assaulting Gerrit Croosen were found to counterbalance one another and so were cancelled.

Gerrit Kroesen was taxed in Brooklyn in 1675 and 1676 for land between the home lots of Jacob Brouwer and Volkert Hendircksen Bries.

In 1677 he obtained a patent for 160 acres on Staten Island, although there is no evidence that he ever lived there.

Gerrit Dircksen Kroesen and Neeltje Jans were members of the at Reformed Protestant Dutch Church, Flatbush, Kings Co., Long Island, New York, in 1677 at Gowanus.

On 1 Sep 1679, Peter Brouwer was "bound over to answer at the Gravesend sessions for an assault on Gerrit Croesen." As Gerrit died shortly thereafter, the question seems open as to whether or not his death was the result of the assault.
