Mike started playing Little League Baseball when he was 8 years old and continued playing baseball through high school.
Mike was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and a devoted Nebraska Cornhusker football fan.
Mike married Nancy Jo Remington on September 8, 1992, in Reno, Nevada. They later divorced. To this marriage was born a daughter, Nicolette Renee 'Nicki" Bennett.
Mike died on his 59th birthday, March 29, 2017, at Suncoast Hospice, John Hopkins Hospital, St. Petersburg, Florida.
Mike is survived by his parents, Chuck & Mary Bennett; daughter, Nicki; sisters, Mary Kathryn "Kathy" Bennett, Patricia Joann (Anthony) Warren, Theresa Anne Bennett and Barbara Jean (Daniel) Schueler; many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Mike's memorial service was held on Saturday, June 17, 2017, on Siesta Key, Sarasota, Florida. His ashes were scattered on Siesta Key Beach.
