John was the son of Anton Zangmeister and Maggie Kuhn. On 05 Jun 1893 he married Julia Hess and they had four children: John, Flora, Leona and Lee. As a young man he worked in the dry goods business. Later in life he was the proprietor of a chili parlor. John died at his home at the age of 79.
