EMIL L. STEIGER

Emil L. Steiger, past commadore of the Riveside Yacht Club, died Thursday at Greenwich Hospital. He was 82 and lived at 95 Club Road in Riverside.

Born in Fremont, Wis., June 18, 1889, he was the son of the late Emil and Sophie Faust Steiger. His wife, Carolyn Adams Steiger, survives him.

He attended the University of. Wisconsin and later became vice president of Deltox Rug Co., a family-owned business in Oshkosh, Wis.

Steiger was formerly a director of Greenwich Trust Co., which is now owned by Union Trust of Greenwich. He was also a former member of the Stanwich and Greenwich Country Clubs and involved in many local civic organizations after his retirement.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Charles A. Moore and Mrs. Roger Harmon, both of Tucson, Ariz. ; two sons, Charles and Peter Streich, both of Old Greenwich; a sister, Mrs. Sophie Roth and a brother, Carl Steiger, both of Oshkosh, Wis. ; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Riverside. The Rev. Phillip E. Perkins will officiate. The burial will be private, and there will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements have been made by Fred D. Knapp and Son of Greenwich.
