Visitation will be until 6 tonight for Andres S. Alvarez, a 53-year resident of Torrance.

Born Nov. 30, 1891, in Purepero, Mexico, he died Nov. 30, 1984, at home.

Mr. Alvarez worked 35 years for Columbia Steel before retiring in 1966. He is survived by his wife, Agapita; seven daughters, Mary Moreno, Julia Ybarra and Ermalinda Villalobos, all of Torrance, Savina Basquez of Sacramento, Frances Colin of Redondo Beach, Connie Dominguez of Compton and Phyllis Mique of San Diego; five sons, Jesus of La Puente, Andres of Long Beach, Robert of Los Angeles, Joe of Harbor City and Raymond of Chino; two sisters, Maura Fernandez and Teresa Alvarez, both of Tijuana; 68 grandchildren; 117 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Halverson Stone & Myers Mortuary Chapel, Torrance.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 tonight at Nativity Catholic Church, Torrance. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery, Long Beach.
