John Abbe was the fourth mayor. He was a good, honest man, who was well liked by his fellow citizens. He was a cooper by trade.

FUNERAL OF JOHN ABBE -- The funeral services of the late John Abbe took place at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, and were attended by a large number of the old residents of the city, who had long known and honored the deceased.

Mr. Abbe was one of the pioneers of this city, having resided in Quincy about forty years. An upright honest man and a good citizen, he was esteemed by all who knew him. He was one of the early Mayors of the city, and filled the position with credit to himself and the public.

He possessed the entire confidence of his fellow citizens, and none knew John Abbe but to honor him.
