Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Velma Jean Tippit, age 77, the former Velma Jean Thibodeaux, who passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 11:50 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro.
Mrs. Tippit was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Community Christian Assembly.
Survivors include three daughters, Shiela Linscomb of Lafayette, Vanessa Tippit Reeher and her husband, Bill, of Oregon and Jessica Murray-Ruffin of Lafayette; ten grandchildren, Kofi Robinson, Ja'von Guilbeaux, Jacee Guilbeaux, Briley Ruffin, Kylie Ruffin, Amauri Ruffin, Brandon Reeher, Christopher Reeher, Ida Reeher and Lily Reeher; one great grandchild, Jayden Reeher; one sister, Mary Thibodeaux Pradier of Houston; nieces and nephews, Marion Lewis, Lillie Lewis, Sidney Ray Lewis, all of Lafayette, Thelma Lewis Johnson, Velma Lewis, both of Houston, Paula Prejean and Jonette Lewis Flugence, both of Lafayette; and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Tippit; her parents, John Thibodeaux and the former, Lillie Mae Joe; one grandson, Tamar Shaun Ross Alexander; one niece, Ruthie Lewis; and one grandmother, Etalia James Allen.
