Kathy went to be with her Lord after battling courageously against cancer for seven months. Her family moved to Kermit in 1965 and to Odessa in 1966. She was a 1972 graduate of Permian High School.

Kathy loved children and dedicated 31 years of her life to their care and education, teaching them practical life skills, academic basics, and Christian values. She was the co-owner of Aladdin‘s Castle Learning Center and former owner of Sandcastle Learning Center. As teacher, coach and director to thousands of children she was kind but stern, a practitioner of tough love.

She was an active member of the National Child Care Association, Texas Licensed Child Care Association, and the Permian Basin Licensed Child Care Association, which she served as President 1997 to 2001. She also served as an Odessa Chamber of Commerce Ambassador for several years.

Kathy loved life and touched many lives in her short time here on earth. She was a great mom to her adopted children, son John Craig and daughters Chynna and Emerald, and she was very proud of them. She was an avid golfer. An extremely creative person, she was good with her hands. She could fix just about anything. She was a generous, giving person who loved to take in strays, human or animal. Kathy had strong views on many issues. She was a pro-life feminist who believed that a woman can accomplish anything that a man can do, but she also appreciated chivalry. She was an outspoken proponent of and role model for adoption.

Kathy was the baby sister of a large, close knit, loving family. She cherished each one and had nicknames for most. Their nickname for her was Saken Jane, given by younger brother Monte. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son, John Craig Eicher and his wife, Kristi, of Odessa; by her parents, Ike and Tiny Eicher of Gardendale; by two sisters, Dana Myers and husband, Ron, of Gardendale and Paula Smart of Odessa; by three brothers, Mike Eicher and wife, Sharon, of Gardendale, Richard Eicher and wife, Connie, of Gardendale, and Monte Eicher of Odessa; April Terrell and two daughters, Chynna and Emerald Terrell, all of Odessa; by 14 nieces and nephews; and seven great-nieces and nephews; and by many devoted friends. She leaves a lasting legacy in the lives of many, many children.
