Of Winchester and Oak Bluffs, MA. He graduated from Boston University with a bachelor's degree in business administration, and went into the family jewelry business with his two brothers. They built the business from a small jewelry store into a well-known business. He was active in the Armenian community through various organizations and his church.

He and his twin brother married twin sisters in Canada in a double wedding on Nov. 9, 1958. The two families shared a large home together for many years.

He was predeceased by his parents,Levon Garabed Barmakian (1896 Turkey-- and Hripsime Barmakian; and his brother, Ara Barmakian. He was survived by his wife of 47 years; four daughters and sons-in-law; 13 grandchildren; a twin brother; a sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at the Aram Bedrosian Funeral Home, Watertown, MA on Wednesday, July 19, 2006. Funeral services were held at Saint James Armenian Apostolic Church, Watertown, on Thursday, July 20, 2006. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
