ANDERSON, Rose Mary
Rose Mary passed away peacefully in her home with family by her side on March 30, 2017 at the age of 97. Rose Mary was born on February 21, 1920 in Morarity, New Mexico to the late Benjamin and Mary Jane Moseley. As an infant she traveled with her mother by train to Bakersfield, CA where her father had relocated to work for the railroad. There she spent her childhood years, graduating from Kern County Union High School and Lufkin Business College. After graduating from business school she worked for Hornkohl's Chemical Laboratory, until the start of WWII, when she moved to Sacramento, CA to work as a Secretary in the Signal Section Air Force Command, McClellan Field. While in Sacramento, she met her husband, Roy Anderson, who was on leave from the US Navy. The couple was married on November 28, 1945 in San Diego, CA. Married for 64 years, Rose Mary & Roy raised their 4 children together in Sacramento. A devoted mother and woman of faith she was the heart of the family. Rose Mary shaped their lives by her Christian example and loving spirit. In 1962 she went to work as an Administrative Assistant at Sacramento State University, where she worked in the Business and Physics departments until her retirement in 1981. When not at work, you could find Rose Mary reading, sewing, tending to her garden, or volunteering for various charities or her church. Rose Mary was a Charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church, 50 year member of New Hope Chapter #117, Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron in 1984, and a member of Daughters of the Nile. Rose Mary will be remembered as a kind and gentle devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a kind-hearted and generous friend to all who knew her. Nothing gave her more joy than her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Predeceased by her husband, Roy V. Anderson
With her passing she will reunite with her brothers, David Moseley and Guy Madison who predeceased her. The family is deeply grateful to the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living of Sacramento, Sutter Hospice and the private caregivers for their gentle and kind care of Rose Mary. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 6th at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Highland Avenue, Sacramento, CA. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or to Trinity United Methodist Church.
