Mr. Chappell was in construction for 35 years, teaching building trades for all five Tippecanoe County schools for 18 years. Most recently, he was the project manager for the new Eastside Assembly of God on County Road 50 South in Lafayette. A member of the Eastside Assembly of God, his hobbies included cabinet making, woodworking and golf.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Linda Messman of Hanover, NH; four sons, Michael "Mike" Chappell (wife: Cheryl) of Newport, TN, Bruce McKinney (wife: Chris) of Lafayette, Brad McKinney (wife: Rhonda) of Monon, and Bryan McKinney (wife: Paula) of West Lafayette; a brother, John Chappell (wife: Wilda) of Hillsboro, WV; and a sister, Marie Doyle of West Virginia.
