Margaret Mary Bellinder, 83, of Wamego, Kansas, died Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Stormont-Vail Health Care in Topeka. She was a life-long resident of the community.
Margaret was born March 9, 1934, in Flush, Kansas, the daughter of George and Marie Yantz Lenhart. She attended local schools and graduated from Wamego High School in 1952.
Margaret married Francis J. Bellinder on April 22, 1952, in Wamego. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2001.
Margaret was a homemaker. She also worked as a Manhattan Mercury carrier and Route Supervisor for twenty three years until her retirement in 2001. She was a member of the Heritage Club, St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, The Legion of Mary and St. Bernard’s Altar Society. She also played the church organ for many years and watched Mass on the TV every day. She loved to crochet, do art crafts and play computer games. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed outings with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Margaret also enjoyed playing the penny slots.
Margaret is survived her children; Mike Bellinder (Donna), St. Louis, Missouri, Rick Bellinder (Paulette), St. George, Cathy Woodyard (Daryl), Wamego, Janet Parkerson (Randy), Lebanon, Tennessee, Robert Bellinder (Devanie), St. George, David Bellinder (Sonya), Lawrence, and Steven Bellinder (Erika), Dewitt, Nebraska;
twenty-one grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Derek Bellinder; and her sisters, Betty Ranallo, Joan Hieger, and Georgia Fuller.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2017, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Wamego. Father Mike Peterson will be the Celebrant. Mrs. Bellinder will lie-in-state on Thursday, beginning
at 2:00 p.m., at Campanella-Evans Mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. They suggest memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, and those may be sent in care of the mortuary.
