News Article May 8, 1901. Oregon City, OR "Deed of a Madman" "Murders a neighbor & kills himself"

McClinsey, while in a fit of insanity shot and killed Howard Baker and than killed himself, with the same gun, at Boone's Ferry, 12 miles south of this place, this evening. Sheriff Cooke received a telephone message at 5 pm to go and arrest McClinsey, who was believed to be insane. Half an hour afterward another message brought the news of the tragedy. McClinsey had been away several days and on his returning threatened to shoot W.A. Crisell. Baker, a neighboring farmer went to McClinsey's home to take care of him and was shot. Both men were middle aged and left families.
