Bonnie Reger Foxworthy, 90, of Boone passed away April 4, 2017.Born Bonnie Lou Ackland on March 31, 1927, in Ames, Iowa, she was the daughter of Orin and Inez (Peterson) Ackland. She grew up as a member of the United Brethren Church in Ames. She graduated from Ames High School and then received her Bachelor’s Degree in 1949, at York College in York, Nebraska. Bonnie taught junior- and senior-high English and Speech at Morning Sun and Missouri Valley. Bonnie also worked for the Iowa Department of Education, and as a social worker in Onawa and Elkader. Bonnie was the wife of a United Methodist minister for 56 years and served in numerous churches throughout the state including Orient, North English, Griswold, Morning Sun, Missouri Valley, Prairie City, Onawa, West Union, Boone, and Napier.

Bonnie led a very active life; she loved spending time with her family and friends. When she was not entertaining or volunteering, Bonnie took pleasure in reading and genealogy. She enjoyed traveling and was delighted to have visited all 50 states. Bonnie was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. Bonnie was a member of the Napier United Methodist Church and a life-long member of the United Methodist Women. She was also an active member of the PEO Sisterhood and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution where she volunteered for numerous mission and education-related projects.

She is survived by a son, L. Earl Reger; a daughter, Mary Susan and son-in-law, Douglas Vande Lune; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
