Mary Beth Gillespie Adams, 70, of Graham, went to be with her Lord on Monday (April 3, 2017) at Duke University Medical Center after a brief illness. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. A native of Reidsville, she was a daughter of the late Ralph Thomas and Ethel Davis Gillespie and had lived in Graham since 1980. Beth was of the Christian faith, a graduate of Reidsville Senior High School, and she retired from the Social Security Administration after 38 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Adams, to whom she was married for 31 years. Beth was a devoted mother to her three sons and upon retirement, focused much of her time on gardening, crafting and being a wonderful meme to her five grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She is survived by her sons, Pat Ivey and wife, Linda of Kernersville, Michael Ivey of Redwood City, CA, and Chris Ivey and wife; Annette of Burlington; her brother, Tommy Gillespie of Durham; her grandchildren: Jennifer Ivey of Wilmington, Stephen Ivey of Kernersville, Graham Ivey of Sacramento, CA, Meredith Ivey of Asheville, and Heather Ivey of Wilmington; her great-granddaughter, Addison Ivey, and step-children: Melissa Adams of Chapel Hill and Marcus Adams of Boone.
