US Congressman. From 1902 to 1917, he was private secretary to Congressman Augustus P. Gardner and a member of the State Constitutional Convention. He was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fifth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Augustus P. Gardner in 1917. Reelected to the Sixty-sixth and Sixty-seventh Congresses, he served until he resigned to accept a Treasury position. In 1921, President Warren G. Harding appointed him to be collector of customs at the port of Boston and he served until his retirement in 1933.
