BATTON, FRANK P., of Pleasant Grove, AL, passed away Monday, January 19, 2009 in Slidell, LA. He attended the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove, AL. He retired from U.S. Steel after 41 years of service and was also an Army Veteran serving during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his son, Terry W. "Batman" Batton and parents, William Batton and Vonnie Batton Mayes. He is survived by his; wife of 70 years, Mary M. Batton; daughter, Patricia (Mel) Batton Stardridge; daughter-in-law, Shirley Batton; grandchildren, Richard (Sheila) and Greg Stardridge, Tammy (Mark) Ozley and Cathy Laminack; and several great grandchildren.
Chapel services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 23, 2009 at Brown Service West Chapel with Rev. Buddy Majors officiating. The burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday evening, January 22, 2009.
