"Pops" Whitman was the son of Alice Whitman and Aaron Palmer. He began performing in black vaudeville as a child with the Whitman Sisters, later touring with Louie Williams. Their act was known as "Pops and Louie." "Pops" died of a cerebral hemorrhage at the Minerva Hotel while on tour with Louie in Athens, Greece. Pops father, Aaron Hamilton Palmer, was also an accomplished dancer, born Feb. 22, 1896 in Charleston, SC. He died in November, 1976.
