Celebration of Life for Mrs. Ramona "Deeke" Hood Thomas is noon Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Interment follows at Royal Cemetery in East Gadsden.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Jimmy Larry Thomas, Gadsden; her loving daughter, Cori Sharae Thomas; grandchildren, Keiona Ariel Thomas, Breiona Anais (Cory) Mack, Tevin Thomas; great-grandchildren, Khamari Emon Thomas, Jaylin William Coller; sisters, Brenda (Benjamin) Marshall, Patricia (Steven) Tuck; brothers, Eddie (Elnora) Hood, Arthur (Verlinda) Hood; sisters-in-law, Vernell Thomas, Georgia (Gary) Malone, Melinda (Joe) Butler; brothers-in-law, Willie (Lenetta) Thomas, Warren Thomas, Anthony (Denise) Bailey; nieces, Pam (Rick) Williams, Renetta Hood, Sonya Hill, Lawanda (Dwayne) Craggette, Charmaine Jackson-Jones, Mary Liz, Jacki (Brian) Duncan, Montrena Tuck, Chatara (Darren) Brumfield, Shakera (Jason) Sanders, April Tuck, Nicole Tuck; nephews, David Hood, Louis (Sabrina) Hood, Darrell Hood, Darrell L. Ramona Denise Hood was born to Octavie and Margaret Hughes-Hood August 13, 1954 in Etowah County, Gadsden, Alabama.

She was a graduate of the Gadsden City Public School System and spent some time furthering her education at the community college here in Gadsden.

Ramona accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in East Gadsden, Alabama. She loved her church and she loved to sing in the choir.

Ramona Denise Hood-Thomas was married to Mr. Jimmy Larry Thomas and to this union their beautiful daughter, Cori was born. Ramona was affectionately known as “Deeke” to her closest friends and all of her family. She loved to cook for her family and the love she had for her grandchildren was insurmountable. It was well known that the love they shared for one another was almost like a competition of who loved whom the most.

She was preceded in death by her parents Octavie and Margaret Hughes-Hood, her brothers, Jimmy Alexander “Sonny” Hood and Laymon Hood.
