Ralph Lewis Abelow, 68, of Frederick, passed away at his home surrounded by his family and friends on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from MS. Ralph was a unique and caring individual who touched the lives of all who knew him. Ralph was the loving husband of Christine, his wife of 15 years and understood he was twice blessed with the loving support of Christine and his mother Paula. Ralph was born January 20, 1949 in Manhattan to Paula Brunner Abelow and the late Ira Abelow. He was one of the first graduates from Thomas Johnson High School in 1967, then attended Western State Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. Ralph's 36 plus years as the owner of Carpets Unlimited/Abbey Carpet in Frederick and Hagerstown gave thousands of people the opportunity to enjoy Ralph's uniquely outgoing personality. Prior to his illness, he was a member of the Carroll Creek Rotary Club, Business Network International, Mid Atlantic Floor Covering Association, Frederick County Homebuilders Association, and several County Homeowner Associations. In his spare time Ralph was a competitive triathlete who loved to be outdoors hiking, fishing, gardening, and skiing. He loved to dance, cook and listen to classical music. He also enjoyed spending time at home playing with his two dogs. In addition to his mother Paula and wife Christine, he is survived by his proudest accomplishments, children; Joshua Abelow and Elizabeth "Tisch" Abelow. Additionally he is survived by his Brother; Eugene Abelow. And numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by brothers; Jonathan Abelow and Evan Abelow. Funeral arrangements are pending.
