Gene Louis Campbell, age 68, of rural Knox City, MO, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017, at his home southwest of Knox City, MO.

He was born July 1, 1948, in Valparaiso, IN, the son of Harlin Edward and Enid Evelyn Langer Campbell.

On July 20, 1974, at Knox City, MO, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Heimer.

Surviving are his wife Phyllis Campbell of Knox City, MO, three daughters, Darlene (Glen) Jones of Shelbyville, MO, Julie Shiflett of Brookfield, MO, and Gina (Lonnie) Golden of Novelty, MO, eight grandchildren, two great grandsons, eight brothers and sisters, Harlin Edward (Suzie) Campbell II of Jacksonville, IL, Anna (Archie) Jackson of Springfield, MO, George Campbell of Edina, MO, Helma Campbell of Knox City, MO, Matthew (Donna) Campbell of Lewistown, MO, Michael (Janet) Campbell of Broken Arrow, OK, Richard Dean (Margaret) Campbell of Oregon, Enid (Larry) Stendebach of Hannibal, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers in infancy Lonnie and Frank, one grandson Edward Jones, his in-laws Pete and Betty Heimer, his beloved dog Midnite and numerous aunts and uncles.

Gene received his education in Knox City and graduated from Knox County High School. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Gene worked for Carlisle Holbert doing odd jobs, Burnham Manufacturing in Edina, Gambles Store in Edina, Shahan Sawmill, and Kelly Lime & Rock. Gene was a wonderful brother who helped his mother raise their family after his father’s death. Gene enjoyed woodworking, carving, painting, gardening, fishing, collecting hot wheels and spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of Missouri Hands.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Reverend Mike Wilson and Reverend Paul Milliken will officiate the services. Burial with full Military Honors will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Lonnie Golden, Glen Jones, Jason Heimer, Donnie Pflum, Randy Parton and Brian Hogue.

Honorary bearers will be Tom Heimer, Mike Heimer, Tora Golden, Larry Stendebach and Carlisle Holbert.

Visitation will be Friday, April 14, 2017, after 4 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
