Early census records listed Godfrey's name as Gottfried, the spelling used by his father. He signed his WWI draft as "Geldermann" but his WWII draft card as "Gelderman". Obits and death certificates for he and his wife, who died less than 2 months before him, all used the spelling of Gelderman. Of four sons, it appears the eldest always used Geldermann, the second used Gelderman early on but later switched to Geldermann (probably when he partnered with his elder brother), while the majority of public records for the younger two sons use the spelling Gelderman.
