Thomas Dillard Melton was born September 1, 1865 in Christian county, MO, near Ozark, and passed away February 26, 1952, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ora Pryer in Ozark. He had been in ill health for some time. He was united in marriage to Amanda Tatum on January 14, 1892, and to this union four children were born. His wife preceded him in death April 21, 1942, and one daughter, Mrs. Leonard McCoy passed away 21 years ago. Mr. Melton spent his entire lifetime in the Selmore community where he engaged in farming until ill health forced his retirement. Surviving are his children, Mrs. Floyd Hanks of Springfield, Mrs. Pryer of Ozark and Mr. Hobert Melton of Ozark; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; one brother Joe Melton, of Spokane and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon in the Selmore Christian church with Rev. Ross Carter officiating. Interment was in the Selmore cemetery under direction of the Chaffin Funeral Home of Ozark.
