Charles was the only child of Humphrey Anthony and his second wife Phoebe (Bush). In 1909 he was a first year student at Stanford University, majoring in mechanical engineering, and residing in Palo Alto. On 1 November 1909 Charles drowned when he fell off the Dumbarton trestle bridge which was being built by the Southern Pacific Company near Palo Alto. On 12 November 1909 he was interred in the Anthony Family Plot at Rosedale Cemetery, Los Angeles, CA.
