J. C. Parham, 64, died Thursday, March 27, 1997, at his residence following a long illness. Born in St. George, Ga., he had lived in Jacksonville from 1939 until 1986, when he moved to Interlachen. He served in the U.S. Army with the occupational forces in Okinawa. He had worked as a salesman for many years. He later worked as an aircraft repairer at the N.A.R.F. facility at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville for the Civil Service. He had helped on the "chain crew" at the Interlachen High School football games for many years. In Interlachen he belonged to the St. Andrews Episcopal Church; the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Chapter #2097; the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #3822; and the Interlachen Lakes Land Owners Association. In Jacksonville he was a member of the Riverside Lodge #266, F&AM; the Morocco Temple A.A.O.N.M.S.; and was a former member of the West Jacksonville Shrine Club. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Valley of Jacksonville, Orient of Florida. He was also a member of the Democratic Executive Committee of Putnam County, the Florida Sheriff's Association in Tallahassee, the Putnam County Shrine Club of East Palatka, and was a former member of the Interlachen Lions Club where he had been named as a Melvin Jones Fellow. He is preceded in death by his sister, Mabel P. Fleming. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bobbie Parham of Interlachen; daughter, Judy Shuster of Pompano Beach; sisters, Margaret Beckum and Mary Ervin, both of Jacksonville, Faye Briqueleur of Lilburn, Ga., Lorena Matthews of St. Augustine, and Martha Jones of Green Cove Springs; brother, Aubrey Lee Parham of Jacksonville; and two grandchildren. Funeral service is 11 a.m. today at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Interlachen with Rev. John W. Blow officiating. Pineland Lodge #86 will conduct a Masonic ritual. Military honors will be given by the U.S. Army. Cremation will follow. Masters Funeral Home in Interlachen is handling arrangements.
