Panagiotis “Pete” Alex Dris, 84, of Waco peacefully passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at his home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, at Holy Archangels Greek Orthodox Monastery in Kendalia, Texas. Presiding clergy will be Archimandrite Dositheos and the Fathers of Holy Archangels Monastery. Trisagion service will be held 6:30 p.m., Monday, April 17, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 617 N. 17th St., Waco, with Rev. Father Theodore Tsitsilianos.

Pete was born September 18, 1932, in Megalopolis, Greece, to Alexios and Maria Dris. He came to Waco in 1952 with the support of his aunt, Anna Demas. Pete graduated from Waco High School and Four-C College. While attending school, Pete worked in several restaurants and in 1960, he accomplished his dream of owning his own restaurant, Pete’s College Inn. Over the years, Pete also developed a property management business near the Baylor University campus. He enjoyed working and serving Baylor students and the community for almost 60 years.

In 1967, Pete married his childhood neighbor and love of his life, Catherine “Noula” Dris in Athens, Greece. Together they started their family in Waco and together worked their business. Pete was the most loving, hard-working husband and father a family could be blessed to have. He continued to work and oversee the family business with his children, who will so miss his guidance and working with him daily. Pete was always there to lend a helping hand to family, friends and anyone in need. He was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Church and supporter of Greek Orthodox Monasteries.

Pete is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Dris; his parents, Alexios and Maria Dris; and aunt and uncle, Anna and Davis Demas.

He is survived by his son, Alex Dris; daughter, Mary Ann and husband, Phillip Kimmel; sister, Magdalene Diakis and husband, Theodor, of Ft. Worth; sisters, Xrysoula Psilovasilopuolos and Dionysia Dris of Athens, Greece; niece and nephews; and many loving friends and family.

Pallbearers will be John Diakis, Johnny Giotes, George Klaras, Evan Klaras, Elias Ferris and Don Cox.
