Charles W. "Bud" Ross, Jr., 75, passed away on August 5, 2007, at home. He was born on April 9, 1932 in Akron to the late Charles and Alice Ross. Bud graduated from Springfield High School in 1952 where he played football, baseball, and ran track. He served in Germany with the US Army from 1952-1954. As a young child, Bud was a marble champion. He worked at Rogers Manufacturing from 1951-1985 and later retired from Hamlin Steel Products in 1997. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers George, David, Bob, and Walter Ross; and sister Jean Yoder. Survivors include his devoted wife Betty, of 55 years; daughters Rebecca "Becky" (Larry) Combs and Karen (Dale) Davidson; son Charles W. "Chuck" Ross, III (Hilary Keeney). Pappy showed a great interest in the achievements and interests of each of his grandchildren. Ashley Combs, who excelled academically, Aaron Combs, who refurbishes and shows custom cars, Chad Davidson, an avid soccer player, and Amanda Davidson, who was a member of Lake High School’s state championship softball team. The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of Summa, aide Sheila, and Falls Village 3rd floor. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
