Charles Green was born in Boston, Massachusetts to parents Francis Green and Susanna Green, Francis' 2nd cousin. He was discovered to be Deaf at around 6 months old. He was sent to Braidwood Academy for the Deaf by Charles' father, Francis Green during the Revolutionary War while Francis was a British Soldier. Fascinated by how educated Charles was, Francis, Charles' father went on to pursue as a pioneer for Deaf Education in America including the United Kingdom for a free school for the Deaf to include the poor Deaf children beside the wealthy families. Charles evidently knew sign language to communicate with his Deaf peers according to Francis Green's written diaries. Charles was accidentally drowned on August 29, 1787.
