Socialite. Mrs. Neilson was a daughter of Frederick Gebhard, a well known broker of New York, having been born at 100 Fifth avenue, a house which was the scene of many important functions until it was torn down in 1907 to be replaced by a commercial building. Soon after the marriage of her daughter to Mr. Vanderbilt, Mrs. Neilson disposed of her New York home because of the intrusion of business buildings in the neighborhood. She had spent her summers in Newport, going to Paris generally for the winter and having an apartment in New York. She was last in Newport in 1926, having an apartment at the Muenchinger-King. Mrs. Neilson occupied "Arleigh" on Bellevue avenue.
