Andy was a tall, stocky, rancher. Growing up the oldest brother to 5 younger sisters he was said to be a big tease. His next younger sister, my grandmother, used to say that you could tell where Andy was in the house by which sister was yelling. If you were doing dishes he untied your apron strings; reading a book, he would flop it closed; writing a letter, he would jiggle your arm. While he teased them a lot, he made up for it by all of the wonderful things he did to help raise them. Their parents were often busy running the grocery store. Oldest siblings Andy and Adelaide did much to bring joy to their younger sisters.
He met Marguerite Wathen on a blind date set up by his sister. They married on December 28, 1942. They had 6 children. One daughter, Rita Marie, died as in infant and is also buried here at Evergreen. Their 5 adult children have remained close even while living miles apart.
