Richard Douglas "Dick/Benny" Benton, 72 years 8 months and 21 days, of Fort Worth, Texas, departed this life on Monday, April 17th, 2017.

Dick was born on July 27th, 1944, son of the late Richard Thomas and Beulah Frances Larison Benton. Dick grew up in Fairhaven, Ohio, where the community knew him affectionately as "Dickie Benton" and he graduated from Dixon-Israel High School in 1963. He served 30+ years in the United States Air Force, honorably serving his country in Vietnam, Desert Storm, Desert Shield and other major operations, earning three Distinguished Flying Crosses among many other honors. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from Carswell AFB in 1992.

Dick was survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Donna Kay Rosselli Benton, whom he married in Ohio on July 31st, 1965; three sons, Shawn Benton (and Susan Burkheimer), Todd Benton (and Jana Robertson), and Matthew "Matt" (and his wife, Lisa Rashel Duncan) Benton; two granddaughter, Kylie Benton and Brenna Moore; three sisters, Sandra Borradaile, Beverly (and Fred) Campbell, and Carol Benton; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Thomas Benton, who departed this life on June 21st, 1995 Beulah Frances Benton, who departed this life on October 23rd, 1995; one brother, Thomas Gordon "Tom" Benton, who departed this life on November 6th, 2015; and one sister, Linda Frances Peters, who departed this life on January 19th, 2010; his paternal grandparents, Virgil Benton and Lillian Dunn Benton; and his maternal grandparents, Isaac Larison and Leila Elkin Larison.

Dick is dearly missed and was loved by all who knew him. He often entertained everyone with stories of his adventurous childhood and close calls in combat.

Dick chose cremation with the Forest Ridge Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas in charge of the arrangements. Funeral services with military honors were held for Richard on Friday, May 5th, 2017 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
