DANNENBERGER, Maynard W. "Dan" died Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Born and raised in Toledo, OH, he lived there until joining the United States Army in 1946. Dan was a three war veteran: World War II, Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. He reached the rank of Sergeant Major and retired from active duty in 1972 after 26 years. He was a life member of DAV Chapter 11 (Previously Chapter 103), VFW Post 2550, American Legion Post 275, National Order of Trench Rats 446, and Korean War Veterans. He served as Treasurer, Comman-der, and Adjutant of DAV Chapter 103. He was named the "National Outstanding Veteran of the Year" for 1987-1988. Former Dunedin Mayor Manuel Koutsourais named November 11th, 1988 as "Dan Dannenberger Day." He was a 40-year active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and served as an usher at the 9:30 Mass for the last 11 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Orla and Mabel Dannenberger, and sisters Marilyn Passafume and Kathleen Albright. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dolores Dannenberger; daughter Karen Rodgers; son-in-law Fred Rodgers; beloved granddaughter Emily Rodgers; sister Edith Witkowski; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, April 25 from 6-8 pm at Curlew Hills Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 26 at 11 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
