At the house of Martin C. Van Alstyne, near Stuyvesant Falls, on Christmas Eve, December 24th, by Rev. J. H. Van Woert of Lawyersville, assisted by Rev. Mr. Cook of Stuyvesant Falls, John Van Alstyne of West Webster, Monroe county, N. Y. to Kate E. Hallenbeck of the first named place.

John Van Alstyne, a brother-in-law of W. R. Bancroft, of Webster, died at his home in Elmira Monday, aged 56 years. He is survived by five children, two daughters and three sons. One of the daughters, Miss Fanny Van Alstyne, is a clerk in the county clerk’s office. Mr. Van Alstyne has also two brothers and three sisters living, Abraham Van Alstyne, of Penfield; Washington Van Alstyne, of Rochester; Mrs. W. R. Bancroft, of Webster; Mrs. Lemuel Halstead, of Rochester, and Mrs. William Hames, of Webster. Mr. Van Alstyne formerly lived in Webster. Both there and in Chemung county he took an active part in politics.
