1873,Deceased was a man of culture and refinement.Deceased served as Mayor of Rutledge two terms,was city clerk in Luverne and had been Register in Chancery and Justice of peace in Luverne for several years.He was an Attorney.He was a member of the Christian church, Knight of Pythias and the Masonic Lodge.He leaves surviving his widow Mrs. Frances Egmon Brooks,who was the daughter of John and Virginia Coleman of Sandy Ridge,two sons Coleman A.and Jimmie Ray Brooks,and one daughter Dora Russell, a young girl yet in the teens. He was buried at Rutledge Cemetery on Monday the 16th.
