After her husband's death, she raised her younger children on the farm until the mid 1850s. By 1860 she is living with her daughter Maria (Mrs. James Lee) on a farm that she owns in Oskaloosa, Mahaska Co., Iowa. She died of pneumonia on 12 Feb 1861 at the age of 64.
We're not sure where she's buried. Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware, has no burial record for her alongside her husband and son. So she's probably buried in Oskaloosa Cemetery, though there is no burial record there either.
