Larry P. VandeVenter, 66, of Sterling Heights, died Nov. 18, 2005, in his home of an apparent heart attack. He was born July 27, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mr. VandeVenter retired as a computer systems operator for the Budd Co. A former resident of Des Moines, he was a 1957 graduate of Roosevelt High School and attended Iowa State University and Wayne State University.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany and moved in 1965 to Sterling Heights.
He is survived by his brother, Gary (Patsy) VandeVenter; niece, Kasey Rockwell; and great-nephew, Tyler Rockwell of Portland, Ore. He was predeceased by his parents, Arnold T. VandeVenter and Florine K. Schrodt.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. Arrangements were directed by Westover Funeral Home, Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be addressed to the National Alliance for Mental Illness at NAMI Donation Services, 2107 Wilson Blvd., Ste. 300, Arlington, VA 22201-3042, or at www.nami.org.
