Mrs. Mary Irene Slack Shull was born in Licking county, Ohio Sept 13, 1848, the daughter of Jonathan A. & Elizabeth Geach Slack. Irene was married in Ohio on October 20, 1867 to George Shull. They were the parents of nine children, three of whom died in infancy,( and were grandparents of 31.) The Shull family came to Kansas in 1875. Mrs Shull died January 25, 1926 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jessie Stevens, south of Uniontown, Kansas. The burial services were held at Uniontown Methodist Church by Rev. Brown. Six of the grandchildren were pallbearers: Lon Chamberlain, Frances Bulla, George Bulla, Clarence Bulla, Orlan Chamberlain and Burr Shull. Mrs. Shull was survived by her children: Ed Shull, Mattie Bulla, Delphia Chamberlain, Lee Shull and Jessie Stevens, all of Uniontown area, and Charley Shull of Escalon, California; and by a brother, Charles Benton Slack of Greenville, Ohio.
