Aldrich, Bertha W (Williams), 101, of Smithfield, died Friday, June 13, 2008 at the North Bay Manor. She was the wife of the late Aaron B.G. Aldrich. Born in Smithfield, a daughter of the late Henry L. and Bertha N. (Williams) Williams. Mrs. Aldrich was a clerk for the W.T. Grant Store in Providence for 25 years, a teachers aid for the Glocester School System, and worked in textile mills and local apple growers in the Smithfield area for many years. She was a 70 year member of the Greenville Baptist Church and a 75 year member of the Laurel Grange in Harmony, working with the youth and community groups, also very active with the Glocester Seniors Organization and served as their program director for several years. She is survived by her children Mabel L Coyne, Priscilla E Miller, Gail W. LaMontagne, Norma M Knight, Linda L.Touriigny, Charles A. Aldrich, (Ret. Harmony Fire Chief), Milton L. and Robert A Aldrich. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Ellen F. Michie, sister of the late Marion Birch, Westcott and Aschel Williams.
